I had quite the elaborate system...
as they were parading the horses around they gave the info/odds for each one, and showed a pic of the jockey
when they showed Barbaro I picked him because his jockey's pic made him look like he could have been one of El Guapo's men... lol
(can't find the same pic... he seems to have shaved his stash)
