oil companies (and other corporations for that matter) don't pay taxes, they collect them from consumers by way of increased prices.
you slap another tax on exxon's profits, and you think they'll just eat it? rofl, they'll pass that shit through to the consumer in a heartbeat, as would any other corporation whose product has such a demand.
