I usually return them...but I have been known to block a spot now and then
I dont think I've ever bought anything at Wal Mart that required a cart.

especially with gas hitting $3/gallon, I don't see myself driving 3 hours to hit 3 different places for stuff.

But sometimes I space out when I'm with the kids and forget to park near a corral, and I've already buckled the kids in. If there's a corral nearby, I'll return the cart. Otherwise, I try to put it where it won't roll and hit a car. It happens maybe 1/20 times. But I'm not leaving the kids alone in the car while I walk across half the parking lot.

but yeah I return the carts to the cart thing in the parking lot everywhere else. Floating carts are a pet peeve of mine since they like to damage cars (dents, scratches, etc.)
