they require a power source though

what i need it for is for a web cam.

so i'd have my USB web cam hooked up to some theoretical box that would then send a signal to a receiver box attached to the USB port on the computer in the other room.

does something like that exist? i've been trying to do this with a series of USB extension cords but so much power is lost between the computer and the camera because of all the wiring that it degrades the signal quite a bit, and it doesn't QUITE reach where it needs to reach, but i dont want to purchase yet another extension cord because that will degrade it even further

i dont care about the power source thing. i have an outlet right next to where i keep the camera. the main obstacle is that the computer is in another room, so getting the signal to the computer is difficult.
