they were on smoke break.. had a little window to the bar that you could order drinks thru and whatnot. Nice Irish pub.
Odd... when I was in Cali back in 04 I went to a bar that had a smoking room.. you could take your drink in there with you and whatnot, but the wait staff were not allowed to go in there unless...

there are a few clubs that have an internal patio type of place that is technically outdoors, and they can get aroound the anti-smoking stuff there.
