So perhaps it might work.

really breathes life into the game. I took a bit over lunch to mess around with the graphic settings and managed to get pretty good performance on my $69 cards with 1024 res/2xAA though it did slow down a bit when I stepped outside for the first time and it had to deal with tons of trees and moving grasses :)
Eck (Linkin Park isa Rollah Coasta)Mar 22, 2006 4:21:48 pm
so if we install with earn's disk... is there just a cracked exe with your install to play with no disk?
PyroMar 22, 2006 4:26:52 pm
And I am still unsure if you will find a good one for a bit yet. Just burn a copy of the DVD that you acquire.
Seir [what?]Mar 22, 2006 4:27:49 pm
I'm using the RELOADED "version" of the disk image and I'm not sure what they did. It came as a disk image ISO and I mounted it with Daemon Tools. There was no serial number thing when installing. I assume there has to be some kind of copy protection on the original disk/game but I'm not sure what it is. Maybe you can blind copy the disk and mount with DT to bypass it or maybe RELOADED did something to the image.

*shrugs*

any scheme they come up with just costs them more money and end user frustration and it'll be cracked in the end and worthless.

besides, the big push is to the 360 anyway from what I read.
Earnest - PhilomastixMar 22, 2006 5:14:05 pm
sell them more games and it costs them money.

WTF would you do it?
Eck (Linkin Park isa Rollah Coasta)Mar 22, 2006 5:19:50 pm
and truly there's no real way for us to know exact numbers of pirated copies of games with and without protection

but the copy protection stuff is not a huge investment for the developer... I'd still say it's worth having

yes... hackers and downloaders will get the game either way... but it's the idiot general public that's effected by that decision since it's so much easier to copy (instead of having to dl and crack and whatnot which idiot gp might not be smart enough to bother with)

perhaps they just consider the PC market so small to begin with and they just wrote it off since the expectations are HUGE for this game on 360
Seir [what?]Mar 22, 2006 4:34:33 pm
Seems a smart approach since any copy protection they apply will be broken anyway and just end up costing them in the effort to do it.
