I love corporate HQ

We have a whacked out network structure here, too messed up to go into much detail, so the skinny on *this* situation is that we have to ditch a point-to-point T1 in favor of a VPN over a Frame Relay.

Except noone wants to buy the VPN devices...

so

we and corporate agree that we'll provide a machine for one end, and they'll provide the machine for the other end. They'll run a unix or BSD so the corporate networking chumps can do their whacky stuff to make the VPN.

for our end, we provide a contemporary Dell box, basically a fairly nice desktop you would buy from Dell *today*

remember we're replacing a T1. We need to be able to maintain a solid 1.5M connection between the sites.

for the remote end, corporate provides... a Sun Sparcstation 4. For those of you who don't know where this fits in, a good 386 can outperform it.

There is no chance in hell that that machine can keep up with the 1024-bit crypto for the VPN at the traffic level we require.

fucking corporate assmongers.
